Stamped Fabric Ladybug Hat

I'm always on the lookout for things that I can stamp on. Hats, bags, shoes...you name it. I was thrilled to find a plain cap to embellish for my daughter. This set is perfect for stamping on fabric because it has a bold image.

Created with The Angel Company Rubber Stamps:

Squiggle Ladybugs
Noir Palette Ink
Dries Clear Fabric Glue

The hat and silk flowers were from my local dollar store and the ribbon was from my stash. I used the Dries Clear Fabric Glue to adhere the ribbon to the hat, but I used my hot glue gun for the flowers. I also used some fabric paint glitter on the ladybug spots but you can't see them very well in the photo.

Flutter By Scrapbook Layout

I stopped by Splitcoast Stampers and the SBSC190 Scrapbook Sketch Challenge caught my eye. I had to alter it a bit to fit the 8 1/2 x 11 layout size that I use, but it worked out. I still had the Flutter By set out from when I made the Anniversary card so I figured I'd use it on this layout.

Seriously, you should really get this set before it is retired! I use it all the time.

Stamped Butterfly Anniversary Card

I am celebrating 15 years of a wonderful marriage to my best friend! Here is the card that I will give to him today. It features one of my favorite TAC sets, Flutter By. This butterfly stamp set will be retiring in July 2009 . Do yourself a favor and grab this set while it is on sale for only $8.21. In fact, all of the stamp sets that will be retired by The Angel Company are ON SALE NOW at 25% OFF. Order before July 1, 2009 because these rubber stamp sets will not be in the new catalog.

In case you are wondering how I created this card let me tell you that it was not at all what I originally envisioned. My alcohol inks were feeling lonely because I hadn't used them in such a long time. I created a green colored background on glossy paper. Then I embossed it with one of my Cuttlebug templates. I thought I had made a mistake putting my paper in because the raised edge wasn't on the side that I wanted. Then I thought....hmmm...those leaves would really stand out if I swiped my black ink over the background. That made the leaves show up quite nicely. I ended up with a background that was just crying out (yes, sometimes my art work talks to me) for some butterflies.

I stamped the butterflies separately with black pigment ink and heat emossed with black embossing powder. I colored them in with Copic Markers, cut them out and then placed them on top of the card. I'll admit that I felt guilty cutting off the antennae and wondered if anyone would notice that they were missing....but it was bothering me so I used some really thin craft wire to re-create them.

Easter/Spring Sculpey Pins

I figured it was time to take the snowflake pin off of my daughter's coat so I made her a replacement for spring. It was so cute I decided I needed one for my coat too. Here's my little model showing off both of our pins.

They're super easy to make. All you need is Sculpey clay, black ink, and chalk pencils or markers. Stamp the clay before baking and carefully trim them with a craft knife and/or scissors. Color them after baking. I seal mine with a coat of Modge Podge and then glue the pin backs on them with my glue gun.

Hogs and Kisses Valentine

Here's a Valentine Card that I created with the Barnyard Birthday set simply by covering the gift that the pig is carrying with hearts. I sliced along the sides of his arms (or are they legs?...lol) with a craft knife so I could lift them over the hearts as if he were carrying them. I found a sentiment from a retired stamp set from The Angel Company that worked perfectly for this card.

Taking Nothing for Granted

My mom died of ovarian cancer many years ago. Last year my sister and I both discovered we had ovarian cysts. We decided to have hysterectomies and prayed that we wouldn't get the dreaded "Big C" diagnosis. We were fortunate that our cysts were benign, but I'll never forget what it felt like like when I thought my life could be cut short. My mind was racing for days wondering what my fate would be and what would happen to my family after I left them. It was a reminder to me of what is truly important in my life -- my family.

This photograph was taken before we went in for surgery. I remember wanting to get a picture of us together before we got any bad news. The sentiment from the More Abundance stamp set seemed fitting for this photograph!

Snowflake Pin/Ornament

This snowflake pin/ornament was created by pressing the rubber stamp into Sculpey Clay to make an impression. After I baked it (and let it cool), I filled in the cracks using Perfect Pearls and embellished with Stickles Glitter Glue for sparkle. (OK...I could've done a better job trimming the snowflake....lol) I think I may have also run it across my silver pigment ink pad and rubbed some of it off too. Just use your imagination and have fun with it!

Faux Cloissone' Technique - Mother's Day Card

OK...so I know it's November and you're probably not even thinking about Mother's Day, but when I tried the Faux Cloisonne Technique the card just morphed into a Mother's Day card...I really had no control over it. The technique is super easy. Just get out a magazine and stamp an image onto one of the glossy pages with your VersaMark inkpad and heat emboss with Gold Embossing powder. This happened to be a picture of a baby's quilt, but you'd never know it now! Grab some of your old magazines and a stamp...preferably one with bold lines and not too much detail and give it a try. You can even try adding some Crystal Lacquer over the top to give it some shine (I've got one drying now that looks pretty good.)

Decorative Circle Medallion

When I saw the TLC193 Decorative Circle Medallion Technique Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers it reminded me of how I used to make snowflakes by cutting into a folded circle shape. I didn't have any corner punches so I just used a tulip punch that I had hanging around. The card was kind of boring so I used stickles to jazz it up. I'll have to try some other punches to see if I can get a more interesting pattern.

I used a tulip punch that I had in my punch drawer, but you can try any hand punch for a decorative effect. Visit Splitcoast Stampers to view the Decorative Circle Medallion Technique.

Elephant Silhouettes in the Sunset

I just can't get enough of these brayered background cards! I used two different sized circles to create the sunset in the background. I put the smallest circle on first and brayered Paris Lights, then I added the larger circle over it and brayered the orange on top of that. I removed the circles and I just sponged on the orange and some yellow to blend the colors a bit. The bottom is simply torn cardstock with Noir black rolled along the bottom.

I had already finished this card and noticed that it resembles Heather Scott's Weekly Card Sketch Challenge! She made a great card using the Holiday Cheer stamp set from The Angel Company (Fall Supplement).

Enchanted Frog Halloween Card

I finally got around to putting labels on the CD Cases for my unmounted sets and when I saw the witch's hat from the For All Seasons stamp set, I knew instantly what I would be doing with it. I used Masking Magic to create a mask (you can also use a post-it note) for the hat after I stamped it. Then I used a stamp positioner to line it up. I had cut my paper a bit too short for the sentiment to fit on it, but I can live with it.

Autumn Embossed Shimmer Technique

I combined the SCS Embossed Shimmer Technique Challenge with Heather Scott's Card Sketch and got this as a result. The TLC185 Embossed Shimmer technique was a challenge for me since I didn't have exactly the right stuff. After much trial & error I ended up painting Vegas Gold All-Purpose ink on the back of the acetate over my previous failed attempt. Then I stamped leaves (which you can't really see that well in the scan, but it shows IRL) on the other side of the acetate...then ran it through the Cuttlebug.

My kids have been pestering me for a while now to do something with the Baby Bottle Pops that have been sitting on my desk. Hemingway Butterfly Prayer Box

Last year my husband brought me about six wooden cigar boxes that he got from a friend. I've been saving them for a rainy day and it's been very rainy here this week! I covered the cigar box with The Angel Company's Hemingway paper collection by using a decoupage glue. I stamped some butterflies and colored them with PrismaColor pencils to coordinate with the paper. The letters were cut with my CraftRobo out of some thin chipboard (another stash that I've been hoarding) and colored with a brown marker. You can't tell in the photo, but I used a glitter pen on the flower bursts and some metallic chalk on the butterfly wings just to give it a bit of shimmer. This box was created to house the prayer requests that our family gets. It will be in our dining room so we will all have access to the box for prayer time.

How to use unmounted rubber stamps

Using unmounted stamps with acrylic blocks will not only save you money, but you will save storage space as well. All of The Angel Company unmounted rubber stamps come with cling mounting cushion (cling foam also sold separately) and a storage container. How to use unmounted rubber stamps - The Angel Company Rubber Stamps & Scrapbook Supplies TAC stamps

Once your stamp sets arrive, simply peel off the backing from the adhesive side of the mounting cushion and mount it to your rubber stamp. Next, trim the excess rubber using a sharp pair of scissors. I recommend the Kai Gold scissors (available in The Angel Company Catalog) as they are great for cutting rubber. Finally, peel off the backing from the cling side of the cushion and you are ready to go.

Still confused?

You are using the clear acrylic blocks to take the place of the wood mount. You will choose the appropriate sized block to fit your stamp and press your stamp onto the block. It stays in place by the cling mounting cushion. Once you are finished with the stamp, you peel it off of the mount and then place it back into your container. The older-style CD cases (not slimline) work perfectly for storage. You only need to purchase one set of acrylic mounts in a variety of sizes since you are using them over and over. I recommend the Acrylic Mounting Starter Kit (available in the TAC catalog for $14.00 plus tax & shipping).
